Champagne Afternoon Tea || The Dorchester

Our trip to the Dorchester for Champagne Afternoon Tea had been long in the waiting as we booked it over 3 months ago now. My sister and I thought that it would be really nice to take my mum for afternoon tea as a late birthday present and a celebration of her getting a new job, and what better way to celebrate than at the Dorchester. We opted for the 'Balcony Vintage' option which was perfect. The sun was streaming through the windows and the waiter and waitress were incredibly lovely, all we needed was a glass of champagne *que le waiter*.

The first course consisted of a really nice dip and a selection of sandwiches with my personal favourite being the egg and haddock. Unfortunately I didn't get a snap of this one as it was far too delicious to pause and take a snap of. Along with this we had salmon and cream cheese on some sort of soft brown rivita bread, prawn mayo on white toast and a meat terrine sandwiched between two bits of wafer thin brown toast (first photo below) - all very fancy looking I think you'll agree!! Of course, this was all accompanied with an absolutely delicious glass of champagne.

Next up were the scones and cream. Now, when it comes to scones I am a massive fan, which is probably due to the fact that my grandma is amazing at producing incredibly delicious scones with homemade jam and clotted cream on. These were also amazing. They were light, fluffy and warm and had a delicious array of toppings to go along with them, including lemon curd, strawberry jam, marmalade and of course clotted cream - scrumptious! These were all accompanied by endless cups of 'The Dorchester blend Tea' (I ended up having at least 8 cups).

By this point we were all getting rather full but no way could we stop just there as the cake trolley was being wheeled out. There was a mixture of tin loafs, from lemon to ginger, and a tasty looking battenburg and glazed fruit cake. I Personally opted for a slice of the lemon whilst my mum and sister went for the ginger - absolutely yummy. After this we were really really full and about at our limits, but they weren't done. The final things to arrive were two chocolate mousse cakes, one with 'Congratulations' on and the other with 'Happy Birthday'. These were to die for. They don't look it, but they were incredibly light and was the perfect treat to end our tea.

The waiter was incredibly cute and said I could share the congratulations cake as he couldn't fit 'For being beautiful' on top - n'awww. All-in-all the afternoon was a real experience and completely worth it. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was personal, the tea and champagne was perfect and you could have as much as you liked on every course - can't say better than that eh?  ;)

I really hope that I have the chance to go to other notable places for afternoon tea in the future such as The Savoy, Claridge's and The Ritz, all of which look incredibly posh and amazing.
