The Spring Edit

In the UK it seems as though Spring has well and truely arrived, which can only mean two things - pastels and a lighter base (oh and Easter is just around the corner)! At this time of year I love to spice it up and opt for a different range of products to coat my face in to give me a more natural look. The products featured above are just some of my must-have products I include in my daily makeup routine at the moment and I love them.

The Base - As my staple base during the winter, I usually opt for a medium coverage foundation but find that as the weather gets warmer, it can tend to sit unnaturally on my skin, so it's time to bring out the tinted moisturisers. This year however, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and try the well-raved about Bourjois 1 2 3 CC Cream in Ivory. It's very light weight in texture and blends quite easily into my skin with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. It covers up most redness and really evens out my complexion in a very natural way.

Concealer - The Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer was in my What's In My Makeup Bag Post (here) and is a product that I use pretty much all year round. It's quite light in teaxture, easy to apply due to it being in a pen form, and is a great, handy concealer which can be used both under the eyes and to cover blemishes.

Lips - I'm a massive fan of pink and coral lips which is right in line with what's on trend at the moment. I don't tend to opt for a lipgloss as I don't like how some of them can feely sticky on my lips once applied, the No7 High Shine Lipgloss in 'Coral Kiss' however really caught my eye. It produces a light shiny pastel-peachy with pink undertones finish which looks gorgeous when you're going for a natural, simplistic look and want to add a pop of colour. Second is the Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in 'Strawberry Shortcake'. It translates as a bright pink once on the lips and is very nouishing and balm like on the lips. (see swatches below)

Cheeks - I love a bit of pink shimmer on my cheeks and the GOSH Shimmer Brick Pink is perfect for this. When you first buy it it looks awfully glittery but once the top layer has been buffed off, it produces a gorgeous light shimmer - perfect for the sun we've been getting in the UK recently.

Nails - Pastels are great and I can't get enough of them when it comes to my nails. The one I'm obsessed with at the moment is the Topshop Nails in 'Bounce' which I recently wrote a post on here.

Lastly is the hair. If your hair, like mine, has a tendency to look dull and boring, the VO5 Straight & Smooth Taming Spray is your answer. It's a great price and really does liven up second-day-old or limp hair. You spray it into your brush then lightly comb it through the lengths and roots to produce a light shine on the hair - it's that easy. PLUS it doesn't leave your hair greasy or feeling like it's completely full of product!

I can't wait to get my hands on other pastel nail shades and to experiment with brighter colour lips this spring! What are your spring must-haves?

Love,
Harriet xo
